Leo's
1955 Chevy Rewire
|
|
|
As
with most builds of older cars, the original wiring in Leo's
1955 Chevy needed to be replaced. The original wiring is brittle
and should not be expected to carry the load of new electrical
components.
For
this rewire, Leo decided to have us install an American Autowire
Highway 22 wiring kit.

The
Project Begins
|
 |
The
engine compartment had wires butt connected and going every
which way. We will clean this up and replace with fresh wire
and a new battery. |
 |
The
new wiring in the engine compartment is complete. Most of
the wiring is routed out of sight for a cleaner look. We moved
the MSD box inside the car and replaced the Optima battery
with a much smaller Odyssey battery.
|
 |
Under
the dash we found many butt connectors, brittle wire and many
splice connectors that had to go.
|
 |
This
is the American Autowire Highway 22 kit that we will install
in the custom console that Leo made for his 55.
American
Autowire offers a great Classic Update for the Tri-Five vehicle.
Because of where Leo wanted his fuse box, we decided that
the Highway 22 kit would work better for this install.

This
is a shot of one of the light sockets that were rebuilt. We
rebuild all light sockets where parts are available. |
 |
The
wiring for the dome light is always the hardest to replace.
The wiring is clipped under the headliner and impossible to
remove without opening the headliner. Leo's 55 will be going
to the trim shop for new interior so we were able to open
it up to rewire.

 |
The
fuse box was installed in the custom console and every circuit
wired.
|
 |
The
cover for the console to cover the fuse box houses the DVD screen.
